The School Day

Breakfast Club

Our Earlybirds Breakfast Club is open every day from 8.00 am to 8.30 am. If you need to use this service, just a day's notice is all you need to give so that we can ensure that there is adequate staffing.
The children who attend the Club have a great time, playing games on our Wii, listening, dancing and singing to music, reading books, or just hanging out with their friends.
You can deliver your children to school at any time throughout the club; there's no need for them to attend for the whole session if you don't want them to. Breakfast is optional but we do need to know in advance if it is required. Our breakfast menu offers a choice of cereals, toast, fruit juice or milk.
The charge for the club is £2.00 per child. If they wish to have breakfast it is an additional £1 per child.

Please contact Jane via the school office if you would like to book your child/ren into the Breakfast Club.

The School Day

Registration is at 8.50 am but children are supervised from 8.40 am every morning when the school doors open. Weather permitting, this will be on the rear school playground, otherwise it is in our hall.  During the morning we have two short breaks of 10 minutes each, from 10.00 am and again from 11.10 am. Children can bring tuck to eat at this time, preferably fruit. (This is provided for the children in Treen & Mousehole Classes.) The morning ends at 12pm for KS2 and 12.15 pm for KS1.

All children in Key Stage 1 (Reception, Y1 & Y2) are entitled to Universal Free Infant School Meals and we would encourage all parents to take up this offer.

In Key Stage 2 (Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6) children can either bring a packed lunch or have a school meal, which is cooked on the premises. Meals currently cost £2.41/day.  The menu can be viewed under the Parents tab.  The afternoon session runs from 1.15 - 3.15 pm, with a ten minute break for the Infant children only.

Child Absence

If your child is absent please telephone by 9.00 am to let us know the reason. If your child is absent and we have not received your phone call, the school secretary will contact you. For planned absences, and leave in term time, please write in advance and complete a leave of absence form which is available from the office.

Parking - Please park outside the school grounds at all times to avoid congestion in the front playground.  The car park is for staff and disabled use only.

Smoking - The school operates a no smoking policy in both its buildings and grounds.

PE & Swimming

Currently, PE is held on a Wednesday or Thursday. Please check with your child's class teacher. Children should come to school on that day wearing their kit: black tracksuit bottoms, white T-shirt and either their school sweatshirt, hoody or fleece.
Throughout the year, all children will have the opportunity for a 6-week swimming course at St Ives Leisure Centre. We ask for a contribution of £3.00 towards travel expenses.

Children should not bring expensive personal items into school as we cannot be responsible for loss or damage. We discourage 'swapping' things and ask that children only do so outside school after consultation with their parents.
