Fistral

Welcome to Fistral Class - we are Year 3 and Year 4!

Fistral is a mixed Year 3 & Year 4 Class and the class teachers are Mrs Kat Burton (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Tracey Walsh (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). We have lots of help in the classroom and the teaching assistants are Ms Michaela Robins, Mrs Sally Pascoe and Mrs Lisa Moran.

We are a very friendly team and are happy to speak to parents about any queries or concerns. If you wish to contact one of us directly you can do this on Seesaw.

Please go to the download section to see what we are learning this term. Further topic overviews will be uploaded as we develop them. For more detail about English and Maths, please see these sections of the website.

Our topic overview is as follows:

  Autumn 1 Autumn 2  Spring 1  Spring 2 Summer 1 Summer 2
Cycle A  Set in Stone  The Good, he Bad and the Ugly Mermaids and Miners  Where in the world are we?  Amazing Amazon What the Romans did for us.
Cycle B  Amazing Animals  Rivers and Mountains  Victorians  Dragons: Fact or Fiction  Who built the Pyramids?  Carnivals around the world

Our topics range from 'What Makes Us Special' to 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' to 'Mermaids and Miners.'

Children have the opportunity to explore topics through themes and we make our topic stretch across the whole curriculum to fully emerge the children into a theme. We read classic books like Charlotte's Web and Stig of the Dump and explore the wonderful world of Roald Dahl too.  We read and tell poems, stories and non-fiction texts: Fistral class are excellent story tellers using actions and text maps!

As mathematicians we practise and secure our understanding of Place Value to build upon throughout the year which supports our learning in calculations, fractions, time and beyond!

We have opportunities to go on trips, learn musical instruments, work with local artists and develop a variety of skills through topic-based learning!
