Trips and Residentials

Learning is not limited to the classroom and we take our children out of school as much as we can to extend and enrich their learning experience.  Our parents have told us that they value educational visits for their children and we try to take each class on at least one out-of-school visit each term to enhance their classroom topics.  We are lucky enough to be surrounded by a wealth of locations and attractions from which to choose; recent visits have included St Michael's Mount, Geevor Tin Mine and Helston Museum as well as Marazion Marsh and local beaches.  We also aim to give the children a Christmas treat each year, normally with a visit to the cinema.  The School tries to meet as much of the cost of all these trips and activities as possible and our Christmas treat is heavily subsidized by our Parents’ Fundraising group.  However, we do ask parents to contribute towards the cost of some school trips, although no child is ever excluded if parents are unable to pay.

We also offer residential visits for children in Years 5 and 6.  These alternate between a city break and an outdoor activity camp.  Previously, we have enjoyed a city break in London with an action-packed 3 days taking in many sites, including a tour and workshop in the Houses of Parliament.  In 2022, we decided to visit Bristol which offers a slightly closer but equally vibrant city experience.  This proved to be a great success.  In 2023, we spent 3 days on Dartmoor at Heatree Activity Centre, where the children experienced climbing, moorland exploration, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits.
